Special inspiring events to share with your parents over the summer

Maths 4 Girls provides high-quality maths workshops for young people. They are always looking for more volunteers and schools to work with so do check it out. Maths4Girls

This August you and your parents can take advantage of their Parent Programme with six truly inspirational role models sharing their career journeys in a series of short online sessions. Covering a wide range of exciting career paths like environmental protection, AI, robotics, cybersecurity, and finance.

August: Role Model Programme

Studies show that parents play a big part in shaping their children's futures. This programme has been designed to slot in during a lunch break. The goal is to get parents and kids talking about future job options and why they matter. Here are the dates and links to sign up below. 

August 2nd, 12 PM: Roles that teach the future generation

  • Meet Anna, who is a maths tutor now who was a teacher. She will share her career journey from school to now as a tutor and answer your children’s questions.

August 9th, 12 PM - Roles that help save the planet!

  • Meet Ethar, the founder of a recycling company called ReallyRecycle.com, who will discuss their role in recycling without generating additional waste and the pathway from when he was a teenager that enabled him to pursue this role.

August 16th, 12 PM- Roles in Artificial Intelligence & Robotics

  • An opportunity to meet Subramanian who is a professor in AI & Robotics.  Subramanian  will discuss the recent AI revolution, its potential impact on the future and the various career paths his students pursue after graduation.

August 23rd, 12 PM - Roles in Financial Services that don’t need university

  • The 23 August provides parents with the ability to introduce their children to Mary and Anushka, who are apprentices at Goldman Sachs who will share insights about their pathway to this top-tier financial service company.  
  • If your children are contemplating careers into financial services via apprenticeships rather than via university, this is a great opportunity to hear insights and ask questions.  Sign up at this link

August 30th, 12 PM - Roles that keep the world safe

  • Just before heading back to school, on Friday 30 August, there is an opportunity for you to introduce your child to Angele who is a cybersecurity and cryptography specialist.  
  • If you are a parent with a child aged 6-11 and would like to discuss jobs combating terrorism and safeguarding bank accounts and what the steps from the age of 6 that enabled them to pursue this role, then sign up at this link
